BUDGET TRAVEL FOOD : LOCAL FOOD

Eating local food when you travel is going to save you a lot of money. A lot of foreigner are not very adventurous when it comes to food when they travel and thus there are the overpriced and not-so-cheap cafes around catered for them.

We are foodies and as long as the local food does not look dubious and dirty, count us in!

Malacca is well known for its local cuisine and there are many local delights for peanuts. So delish, you would not believe how much they cost. They range from RM2 for a small bowl of noodles to RM6 for chicken rice.

Most of Malacca local eateries are run by the local Strait Chinese. They are clean and the food is full of flavor. We went over the weekdays to beat the crowd.

Bring some charcoal pills if you are chicken but we had no problems at all.

Quaint surroundings aroung local eateries make the local food more flavorful. Why would you trade this for a familiar western setting?

  1. I frequently fumble the food budget juggling in mid-afternoon: I'm tired and footsore and boy, does that sidewalk cafe look inviting.
