We have been reading about growing our own mushrooms. Since one of us is relocating to the Netherlands and have to freedom to do whatever she wants in her new home, we are injecting all sorts of ideas into her head so that we can blog about them.
We love mushrooms and we know that it isn't difficult to grow. They are basically parasites in some form. How expensive is a pack of fresh mushrooms in the supermarket? Probably as much as buying enough mushroom spores to last you for a year or more?
We have read that edible mushrooms are easy to grow although some people have experienced difficulties. We are determined to start on this project once she gets to Amsterdam. You can literally grow your mushroom spores on your compost.
Mushrooms are parasites and they absorb 'food' from their host, breaking them down. Don't forget that the shroomies decompose stuff so does it not make sense to grow them from your kitchen compost that is oozing with nutrition?
