We have been reading about how to make a cake a mug. Strange as it may be, these are microwave recipes. We thought it is time to try them out.
This is the recipe we followed, although we did put in a dollop of our blackberry jam.
INGREDIENTS
Add the dry ingredients to the cup and stir together.
Stir in the egg, water, oil and extract of choice. Microwave for 3 minutes (1000 watts). We waved it slightly longer. The cake should rise to the top of the mug.
Allow to cool a little and turn out onto a plate. Looks like something from a gore movie if you ask us.
VERDICT
Our 'cake' turned out dense. It could be the jam but we doubt it made it that dense. It is more of a pudding cake we reckon. Good served hot with a dollop of ice cream, hmmm vanilla. We might flambé it with some sweet liquor tonight. Will we make the 'cake' again? Perhaps, when we are bored or desperate.
Here is a video on how to make a chocolate cake.
