LIFE IS A JOURNEY, ARE YOU READY?

THAT BURNT PEPPER ON THE STOVE WHICH MADE HIM WORRY

I have been making marinated char grilled peppers for Till. It takes a lot of effort to char grill the peppers. Marinating them is the easy part. So making them in bigger batches make sense. These days I would sterilize glass jars and fill them up with peppers and other vegetables like courgettes and aubergines. The herbed olive oil continues to marinate the vegetables. We store the jars in the fridge once cooled and use them in the next few weeks. They are really delicious and make a quick pasta toss when we do not have time to cook.

When we first cooked for T, he couldn't believe what we were doing. We were just busying away in the kitchen with the peppers on the stove. T kept walking in and out of the kitchen curiously.

Then T finally couldn't bear it no more. He said, "Hey, do you know it is burnt?" Us, "Yes, so? Just leave us alone please." Enough said and Till left us alone. In the end, he devoured the whole dish of char grilled peppers and we had a good laugh. He didn't know if we could cook or not in the beginning and just thought he practice the wisdom of silence is golden. Now, chargrilled peppers have become a staple for us.
