We got a 4-in-1 rice cooker for our birthday and it really is one of the best thing we ever received. It has 4 functions for cooking rice, porridge, steaming and slow cooking. A lot of people take the rice cooker for granted and we have to say that we did too when we were in college. Now that we are more savvy and adventurous in culinary, the rice cooker is really a wonderful piece of equipment.
In the past, we only had a cooker that cooks the rice and keeps it warm. These days, there are fanicier models that help controls the heat. We read that some people warms the pot up and then sauteed the onions and some other ingredients before they cook everything with the rice. This is wonderfully convenient by reducing the washing.
Last night we were too tired to cook, but really, too lazy to wash. So, we decided to cook everything in the rice cooker. This is what we put in it:
- Rice
- Coconut milk
- Lemongrass
- Chili
- Onions
- Leeks
- Baby aubergine
- Carrots
- Cabbage
- Saugages
- Soy Sauce
- Pepper
- Sesame Oil
What are some of things you have made with a rice cooker?
