LIFE IS A JOURNEY, ARE YOU READY?

MAKE GOURMET ICE CREAM AT A TENTH OF THE COST

Earlier we posted on how you can make your own ice cream, here is how we did it for one of our degustations.

We bought the cheapest house brand vanilla ice cream we could find in the supermarket.

We left the tub of ice cream out in room temperature for a couple of hours. When the ice cream turn somewhat creamy and you can easily drop a scoop of ice cream from a spoon, it is time to spice it up. Do not let the ice cream melt thoroughly. When the happens, we will get the water and the cream separated. Half melt it and you are on the way to a great gourmet beginning.

We picked cinnamon. Who does not love cinnamon is a fool. You can pick just about any other spices and mix it in, try nutmeg, kaffir lime powder, ginger powder, pepper or even a mix. You can even add some crushed nuts or diced fruits. Pour the cinnamon powder in generously and mix it into the ice cream and then put it back to the freezer.

What you should get is a mix that makes the vanilla ice cream look brownish with a burst of cinnamon in every spoonful.

This is such a neat party trick we love it. Your guests would look at you in awe and have a moment of speechlessness before they start raving about the ice cream. Oh, you gourmet, you!
