LIFE IS A JOURNEY, ARE YOU READY?

BUDGET TRAVEL : 2D1N MALACCA TRIP, CHOP CHUNG WAH CHICKEN RICE BALLS

There is no other places to have Chicken Rice Balls than this humble corner coffee shop in Malacca. There are places like Farmosa Chicken Rice Balls and what not, but nowhere else can beat this family run restaurant.

We went during the weekday and so there was no queue. Expect to find a long queue over the weekend.

Chop Chung Wah, that is the name. It is located by the bridge, right before you cross to see the Christ Church.

This is what Chicken Rice Balls look like.  It is chicken rice, basically rice cooked in a chicken stock with pandan leaves, lemongrass, ginger, garlic, sesame oil and other goodies, and then molded into bite size balls. We like the traditional chicken rice but Mr Washy started liking these balls after our second time in the restaurant. It is very handy, he said.

We LOVE the chicken here. Everyone was buying the chicken by halves or wholes. We don't enjoy other parts of the chicken so we ordered chicken breasts for 2 persons. The breasts are so tender. It is much more tender than Tian Tian in Maxwell Food Court Singapore. There is something very special about it. We reckon the chicken is soaked in the broth and juices after cooking to soak in all the goodness. OMG! We had to go back the next day to have it. The chili sauce is a must. We LOVE it too. It is a good balance of garlic, ginger, chili and a right amount of vinegar. The combination with the chicken is simply divine.

Nothing like a refreshing calamansi drink to wash down the chicken. See how popular this restaurant is. It attracts all nationalities.

2 plates of Chicken Rice Balls (5x2) and 2 portions of Chicken Breasts and 1 calamansi drink to share cost us only RM12, approx. S$5, approx. 2.50 Euros. What else is a better reason to go to Malacca for a 2D1N trip?
