LIFE IS A JOURNEY, ARE YOU READY?

REVIEW : TIPPLING CLUB

This is a very late post. We have been so busy and also have too many things to post and write about. We are feeling a bit of blogging inertia. We were brought to the Tippling Club in Tanjong Pagar for our birthday lunch. Nice of J!

We have heard of the Tippling CLub back in the days when it was located on Dempsey Hill. It is one of Singapore's first molecular gastronomy destinations.

Chef-Owner Ryan Clift launches the new Tippling Club spanning three shophouse units at 38 Tanjong Pagar Road and features a bar, dining room and upstairs private dining room. It promises to bring affordable avant-garde to the neighbourhood in order to become a more flexible, everyday dining and drinking destination.

Chef Clift’s brand of modern gastronomy is fun, playful and fresh. It imbues the dining experience with a sense of excitement and a touch of theatre. Known for its experimental, ultra-progressive cuisine and cocktails, Tippling Club was ranked the 45th best bar in the world by The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2013. Miele named The Tippling Club Asia’s 12th Best Restaurant in its Asian dining guide. It was also named Restaurant of the Year and Coffex Bar of the Year at the Singapore World Gourmet Series Awards of Excellence 2013.

At this new location, Tippling Club will continue to pair its award-winning cuisine with world-class cocktails, pushing the extremes of ingredients and textures to create an ever-evolving dining experience.

This is the legendary bar with its hanging bottles.

This is one of the amuse bouche. It is roasted red pepper served with a miso mayonnaise of sort. The pepper is not charred. We think it is made with charcoal flour.
Makes a cool Halloween appetiser we reckon.

Mr J. Well done on selecting this cool lunch venue. What a wonderful surprise and experience. Thanks for lunch.
This is the other amuse bouche. A very clever palette cleanser with tomato water and a shot of basil oil in the straw. Very refreshing indeed.
Crazy ass cutlery rest. A vacuum sealed liquid with pepper spice in it.

Beautiful presentation of our appetiser. This is parsnip with parma ham and crab.

This is our main course. It is cauliflower couscous which we thought is absolutely clever and a modern interpretation of a lamb curry.

WHAT WE ORDERED
Set Lunch Menu : About ??? We are not too sure. Lunch was on J.

OUR RATING FOR FOOD : 3/5
Call us traditional but molecular gastronomy is just weird. Don't get us wrong, it is nice and some of it delicious. But is it too clever for its own good? Hearty french and italian is still way up on our list. Some of the ideas in this restaurant is very commendable. The cauliflower couscous is awesome.

OUR RATING FOR SERVICE : 4/5
Nice uniform and nice service etiquette. This is fine dining anyway.

OUR RATING FOR AMBIENCE : 4/5
Modern and cosy fine dining ambience. They are a bit gimmicky with their cutlery rest and wet napkins which puffs up with drops of water. This is just like those compressed paper facial masks if you know them. But it is still a nice, clean and smart dining venue.
