BRITAIN'S HIDDEN HUNGRY

I stumbled upon this video on YouTube. I think the food banks are commendable. At the same time, I am looking at the items at the food banks like canned soups and bottled pasta sauces and what not, it makes me think very hard. If people do know how to cook, would such situations happen? Would it be cheaper to cook soups using dried pulses and stock cubes? Would the knowledge to cook help some of these people? I do not mean to comment on this in a snobbish manner, but people survived during war time and they make do with war time rations and dried goods. Would that knowledge help? I would love to hear your comments.
