We were looking at recipes to cook peteh beans and came across an article that says the beans provide nutritional benefits. These beans are popular in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. The Malaysians called them petai and they are known as peteh to the Indonesians and sataw or sator in Thailand. It is generally believed that the seed is an excellent detoxifier and is very effective in removing toxins trapped in the body especially the kidneys and the urine usually turns a little darker after consumption.
Asparagus like the peteh, is detoxifying. This vegetable has a diuretic effect and therefore rids the body of many toxins. Not only does it clean out the digestive tract, but will rid the body of any excess water. When you are buying asparagus, look for bright green stalks that are crisp. The most nutritious way to serve it is fresh, and boiled or baked. Canned asparagus does not have the same nutritional value that fresh spears do. Try adding asparagus into pasta, salads or eating it boiled and squeezed with fresh lemon juice and spices.
