LIFE IS A JOURNEY, ARE YOU READY?

SPRUCE UP YOUR MEAL WITH SOME SPOONS

Mr Washy was not feeling great from work yesterday and we thought we would make a nice dinner for him. We didn't have a lot of food in the fridge to whip up something special but there is always the power of Hors d'oeuvress.

All you need is just some spoons or small dishes. This is what we concocted from our limited supplies.
From left to right:
  • Chopped up anchovies on a mini bed of home-grown greens and a dash of balsamic vinegar.
  • Perfectly boiled eggs with a dash of light soy sauce, truffle oil and chopped parsley.
  • Pate on a slice of rock melon with blueberry and basil for garnish.
These little spoons of Hors d'oeuvres sat on the dining table waiting for Mr Washy's arrival. The pretty setting put a smile on his face.

We started with the anchovies salad which was a good salty appetizer to begin with. It sets your palette in the mood for more.

The egg with truffle oil is always a favorite. We would replace the soy sauce with salt in future so that there is more kick from the truffle oil.

This is probably the most surprising of the lot. The rock melon went very well with the pate. This sweet mouthful finishes off the Hors d'oeuvres plate without too much of a wanting for more from the palette.

We proceeded with a summery tomato and sage soup with sauteed herbed crumbs and a dash of cream. The soup is served at room temperature which makes it more enjoyable in summer. This is followed by a Guinness beef stew served with a dash of cream and rice. And then fruits and yoghurt as a dessert.

A simple dinner made special with those little spoons.
