LIFE IS A JOURNEY, ARE YOU READY?

TIPS FOR AN ITALIAN ROADTRIP FROM THE NETHERLANDS

It is taking us a long time to post about our Italian Roadtrip. It was an exhausting trip for us and somehow talking about it is exhausting too. Mr Washy had plans to visit a new town everyday. It was too tiring. It was a good introduction to Tuscany no doubt, but we swear we would take it much much easier the next time.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO PLANNING A ROADTRIP :

  • Bring a Tomtom, or whatever navigation you have.
  • Apart from the Tomtom, we also printed out some navigation routes from Googlemaps. We did realize that some of the routes suggested by the Tomtom is not the best, so having researched your route before your trip is the best. It will give you good options and insights to the routes.
  • Bring maps. We took maps from Mr Washy's folks. They were for the just-in-cases but they came in handy. There were massive roadworks in Germany and the Tomtom was not giving a good alternative route. We had to check the map for options.
  • The above would teach us to check the internet for potential diversions and roadworks before we head out. That would save a lot of time.
  • Pack several lunchboxes. We drove from the Netherlands, through Germany and then stayed in Switzerland for a night. We packed sandwiches because we did not fancy a lunch in Germany. The sandwiches, snacks and fruits we packed kept us going.
  • Pack a dinner if you are staying in Lucern, Holiday Inn. We researched and knew that there is a Marche next to the Holiday Inn. We know it is going to be expensive but we were hoping for a warm dinner there. However, that Marche did not look too good. It looked foul in fact. We had a lot of leftover food. It is not an impressive spread but it is a good enough dinner for a stopover. We had sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, fruits, chocolates, stroopwafels, nuts...etc., and we brought a bottle of wine too.
  • Get your camera ready on the road. It might be boring sitting in the passenger seat but there are some good views out there in Switzerland.
 Stay tune for more tips.
