Famous Tokyo ramen chain Keisuke Tokyo has set up its second Singapore shop at Orchid Hotel at Tanjong Pagar. Instead of offering its eclectic styles of ramen offered at the Parco outlet, Tonkotsu King is a specialist of ramen with pork bone broth.
The queue is crazy. There are many Japanese restaurants around here. There are about more than 10 people in front of us. You can see the queue going on for another restaurant ahead.
We do not remember the taste for the ramen here. It seems to be not bad. We remember the bean sprout to be rather tasty.

WHAT WE ORDERED
Black ramen with no extra topping : About S$15
They have 3 types of soup. White, red and black. We ordered the black ramen as we have never tried it before. We later researched and found out that the black in this ramen is actually black garlic oil. The ramen came with a thin piece of pork and spring onions. Extra toppings would have seaweed, a braised egg, more pork and black fungus. You can also opt for how al dente you want your noodles, the strength of your soup, and also how oily you want it to be. They basically add chicken oil to it. We opted with no oil. The soup came very oily already.
OUR RATING FOR FOOD : 2.5/5
This is really because of the oily soup. If we remember correctly, Japanese were prepping the food last year, it seems to be locals this year. We are soup lovers but this soup is really too oily and salty for us to finish it. We love the free flow of bean sprouts and hard boiled eggs.

The waiting staff are young. It is a very cosy place. The customers come and go very quickly. The staff however top up our free drinking water quite regularly.

This is a fast food ramen joint. It is meant to be quick and easy. The place is however rather filthy and dusty. We could see a layer of dust on the posters on the walls.
