LIFE IS A JOURNEY, ARE YOU READY?

ANOTHER FRIDAY DEGUSTATION PART 3 : COLD TAPAS PLATE

We took a while before downloading this from our camera. Inertia. Cannot help it. The dam got so cold all of a sudden. It is indeed the end of summer. We have been studying and cooking and snoozing, recovering from our Italian Roadtrip. We really should post more often because it keeps us sane and in check of life.

We prepared a degustation last friday in celebration of receiving our temporary residency. We decided to cook by instinct and hence the menu came out only at the very last minute. Shown above is our cold appetizer of grilled cherry pomodori tomatoes, grilled fennel with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and salami of wild boar.

THE MENU
  • Plate of Tapas
  • Carpaccio of Beetroot and Anchovies, with chopped parsley and orange zest
  • Montepulciano Wined Onion Soup
  • Pan-fried Herbed Turkey with Beetroot Glaze
  • Digestive of Nocino and Cantucci
This beautiful plate of appetizer went down well. It was a cold and gray day, overcasted for most of the day. The sun only shone at about 5pm. It made the tapas plate look almost whimsical. We love this low fat, mediterranean-styled tapas. We know what you are thinking... there is still that sinful salami involved. This is why it is made from wild boar. It is a very lean salami from Tuscany, where wild boar is called 'cinghiale' in Italian. It is probably the tastiest sausage you will ever taste. We do find most sausage too fat and tasting too much of the lard.

We didn't take more pictures of the other dishes. We are believers of not taking pictures during a meal. That ruins the whole atmosphere. Also, we dozed off having the Turkey breast. Can you believe that eating turkey makes one sleep? Read about it here.
