We recently received our temporary residency and are looking to celebrate it this weekend. The Washy wanted to go to a restaurant, but after considering the amount we spent on our holiday, we decided to cook. It is a slow day. The weather is changing and we just feel like curling up on the couch and watch some movies.
The inspiration to cook today is coming in slowly. We cannot claim to be like one of those Masterchef's participants. We are not to skillful. We love to conjure some bits and pieces, and most of all, experiment. We bought some ingredients from the market yesterday and have only managed to conjure up some starters.
Beautiful beets.
Sliced and arranged on a plate.
Sprinkled with homegrown parsley.
And chopped anchovies.
And some orange zest.
And this plate of beautiful colors is just waiting for Mr Washy to dig in... after a dressing of balsamic vinegar and olive oil, salt and pepper of course.
