It might seem odd that we have 'crochet our own clothes' on our bucket list. People would climb a famous mountain or visit Petra...etc. Don't get us wrong. We have that as well. We also have small things which we want to achieve at least once before we kick the bucket. We do not like the whole idea of being so overtly consumerized, although it is part and parcel of living. We love the idea of learning about living, how people used to be so self-sufficient they can make everything themselves. Making bread from scratch was on it, amongst many other small bits.
So, here is our crocheted cardigan.
We do not like to buy yarn in bulk from shops. We usually buy leftover yarn from fellow crafters. The possibilities seem more natural. One tone or one style is always quite boring and predictable for us. We got this pattern from Lion Brand. It was a tough project because of the variety of yarn we have and our trusty crochet needle of 5.5mm. The measurements are of course inaccurate due to the difference in needle size and yarn. We had to gauge, only too often. This cardigan is finally finished and we are loving it.
Mr Washy asked if we realized that it isn't the same red. Of course we know that! We are more color sensitive than he is. The combined randomness of the yarns and their colors are just quite whimsical. Loving, loving it.
We do not have any other buttons other than those that come with our complimentary sewing kit. This will do for now until we get our hands on something more fancy.
