A while ago we got Mr Washy to carve out his pumpkin and turn it into a stewing pot. This was it.
Yummy! We also got Mr Washy to save the seeds for us.
Mr Washy dried the seeds in the sun. We are planning to dry them up and grow pumpkin shoots out of them for consumption. Alternatively, you can almost roast them in the oven with the pumpkin pot and eat the seeds.
Now that we are in the dam and can finally get our hands on those seeds... we realized they look almost alien. They have dried up and there are faces on them!
Well, does this pumpkin seed want to sprout? Pumpkin seeds are awfully hard and we have our doubts. Since they have been through the drying process, they should be able to sprout. Somehow, you can only sprout dried seeds. Try sprouting the pumpkin seeds fresh from the pumpkin and they will grow mold.

It is amazing how this young shoots can surface by themselves.
We cannot wait till we can harvest the shoots for dinner.
Of course we are only going for the shoots. We have no space to grow those big ass pumpkins. ;-p

read your blog is bring back wonderful memories for me too. sometime back when i was doing the cooking, i would safe up lemon seeds, bitter gourd seeds, pumpkin seeds, even durain seeds. leave it to dry on my paper boxes made from old magazine. Than on walks up telok blangah hill with mom, i would just sprinkle them along the way. if fate permits, hopefully something will grow out of them someday. : )
